Check out this Review...he mentions a cool DVD release but a high resistence to make a sequel from Marvel/Fox X-men: Last Stand' far surpasses sequel expectations By John Clark Special Projects Editor “X-Men: Last Stand,” the third and supposedly final film in the X-men trilogy overcomes the dread “sequel-itis” and leaves fans begging for another movie chronicling the life of Marvel Comics’ mutant superheroes. Unlike the sequels of yesteryear, which were filled with pale, formulaic takes on a much stronger original, the X-Men series started off strong, exceeded itself in the first sequel and maintained the high quality through the end of the series. The third film offers a smorgasbord for rabid fans of the series or the comic books, however it will probably leave those without a fondness for the material completely cold. Let’s be clear, “X-men: Last Stand” is a superhero movie. People violate the laws of physics from the opening scenes. People wear costumes and almost everyone has a code name. And if the viewers’ idea of conflict resolution involves quiet, calm conversations or anguished, close-ups of emoting actors, they will be disappointed by the energy-blastin’, lightning-throwin’, claw-slicin’, ground-shakin’ battles here. A typical blockbuster “X-Men: Last Stand” almost gleefully violates some of the summer action movie genres deepest conventions: It makes you think. On a surface level, the newest X-film could be dismissed as mindless popcorn fun. And sure, there is a lot of spectacle thrown up on screen. But the film also touches on deep themes about being different in a conformist society and how much people are willing to change themselves just to fit in. Main characters die. Although any resurrection is possible in the sci-fi genre (just look at Spock in the Star Trek series) there are deaths in this film that seem insurmountable. Within the first 20 minutes a major character is gone. Within an hour, more have fallen. By the end, the body count is high. Things change. The blockbuster formula says that everything has to be left pretty much the same at the end of the movie, so that another sequel can be made to pull money out of the consumer. “X-men: Last Stand” shakes up the status quo, leaving some characters changed forever — maybe. No sequel is planned. Despite its quick rise to the $200 million box-office atmosphere, Marvel is not planning another X-men film. The company has spin-offs in the works, including a Wolverine film starring Hugh Jackman, but so far it is resisting an X4. “X-men: Last Stand” hits on all cylinders as far as sci-fi and comic book fans are concerned. There are huge set pieces where heroes and villains show off their powers. The special effects are seamless. And there are enough background scenes and new, geek-favorite characters introduced to keep mutant-connoisseurs involved. What some fans will be disappointed by, I suspect, is the liberties the filmmakers have taken with the comic book storyline. The plot has been melded from several popular comic book threads, but is different enough to cause some disgruntlement. The films clearly stand apart from the print series and, dare I say it, the storytelling benefits from the clarity and focus the new direction brings. For non-fans, or those who haven’t seen the previous movies, this movie probably holds very little of interest. If the thought of a teen growing huge white wings from his back and soaring through the sky is more humorous than majestic, this isn’t the right film for you. The biggest weakness of the film is the short running time. With so many characters and plot threads needing tending, some are woefully neglected. One villain makes her first full-fledged appearance and dies within minutes of her debut. Who was she? What were her powers? We may never know. My guess is they are holding some footage back for the inevitable super-special version of the DVD. There may be no X-men 4, but if history is any indication, they will release an X-men 3.5 on DVD.

kay, I'd like to see a LONGER MOVIE. THIS WAS A SHORTER VERSION MOVIE. I think they need to release an extended version b/c emotions were kind of cut out and people were indifferent about Cyclop's death. Maybe a scene like X-Men 136 where D. Phoenix lands at her parents house. I was hoping for that. I think everyone still wants to see the Phoenix effect at the end and/or at least Jean rising from the waters. I just read the book and the finale Danger room scene would be awesome if the rumors about a new generation of X-Men is true. I'm still waiting for my Ororo scene where she makes a thundercloud in the attic or at least have a costume room with original comic book clothes in glass cases (sort of like how Michael Jackson has his jackets) or like in X-Men 1 when Wolverine is first in the mansion. what happened to the Siryn scene. she was supposed to fly. where was jubilee? ? Extras: Maybe have an interview about characters like a Q and A of why Psylocke didn't use her trademark blade or telepathy (i heard she DID HAVE IT AND IT WASN'T FILMED OR IT WAS CUT OUT SO I WANNA SEE IT!!!!) I wanna see more Angel-deleted scenes, making of, pasting the wings on, which hairstyle WArren to go for, etc. Could you please have a segment (longer than the 1.5 dvd) of the costumes!!!! Even add original sketch designs, wigs, eyebrow and eye color changes, etc. Maybe some eye candy of Ororo's attic, tours around the mansion, other mutants using their powers, Bishop, Sentinel, etc

I agree Havic...im glad they showed her affecting the weather with her emotions finally but I agree id like to see her creating a small storm in a room just to show how she doesnt have to be facing the sky to create something cool...
i love ur idea about like showing the inside of her room and shes in her room and you can see her closet open and theres her tiara on a shelf...
id like to see her adress her claustrophobia as well..

boo to that I'M SO GLAD THEY CUT THAT STORM/WOLVERINE AND STORM/BEAST OUT OF THE MOVIE. it's in the deleted scene of x2 and in the x3 book but that's so out of character.
okay I've heard conflicting things Brett just stated there wouldn't be an extended version (which there should be. Even if a scene has someone walking a longer distance or more scenary shots. Certain things should be extended. If the fight scene is extended at the end Psylocke needs to use her powers. I would like to see Phoenix land at her house as she did in U. X-men 136. Just fly home at night. WAlk into the house with scary music like uh oh aren't her parents home and then just <Cut> to the morning shot of the x-men and magneto going to the house)
