I'm psyched for the new movie, but I'm still trying to catch up on all the books. I probably won't be caught up by the time the new book comes out!

Warning, Mayor spoilers below I just saw it and I only have one word to say. WOW. This movie was was so wrong that in a way it was right. I didn't understand why it was named The Order Of the Phoenix when that plot line wasn't followed strongly. I thought it would have something to do with the Phoenix bird but we only saw that once. I was extremely disappointed at the fact that Serious Black died at the simple words of "Abra Cadabra" I mean come on. I didn't understand the point of saving his life in the prisoner of azkaban if he would be killed just 2 movies later. One thing that annoyed me about the movie was that it cut from 1 scene to another so fast. I mean one second Harry is at Black's house and the next he's at his hearing, the next thing you know he's on his way to hogwarts. I was really upset there was no quitige in this movie or no explanation to why there wasn't any games. And like always Voldemort gets away at the nick of time. I finally got to understand why professor snape hates harry so much. I never imagined it was because James (Harry's father) bullied him in school when he was a student. The movie was really good but it did have its flaws. And may I add that the fight seen between the head master and the dark lord was just amazing. I mean It sucks that it was interrupted but I think it was great. I mean it's not every day you get to see someone trapped in a huge water ball and tortured inside. I give this movie a

oic.........not to be mean or anything but is it me or doees it seem like the movies are getting worse and worse as they make more? I don't think they are getting worse and worse. This is how I rate the series so far. 1. Prisoner of Azkaban 2. Sorcerer's Stone/Goblet of Fire 3. Chamber of Secrets So for me they haven't gotten worse, but peaked with POA. I still love all the films though.

i watched the film for the secondtime last night. here are my thoughts
overall the Order of the Phoenix film did an a pretty ok-good job in trying to fill in and adapt most of the subplots of the book. the book is so huge! there was so much set up just for the concluding battle with not many "real action" inbetween chapters that no wonder the film seems to drag on. the films starts with a typical wow factor that suppose to grab you and keep you wanting more. which it does. but since no wow danger grabber happens until the last 3rd of the film/book. mediocre film goers may feel bored and not appreciate whats going on during the first 2/3s.
so much development set up happened with only minor eye candy magics here and there. you'll think that the final battle will be MAJOR. yes the final battle was so pretty so top notch effects SO WOW.... its just SO EXTREAMLY SAD that it wasnt long enough. we only got to see about 4 rooms of the Department of Ministry. 2 in which had battles. the book however had many, expanding the fight between Teens vs. Death Eater from running into room into room into room. the film fight didnt leave me to feel anxious when a spell missed and left them in more danger nor feel that excited when a Teen knocked out a Death Eater. If only their scenes was expanded so that i can believe and feel theyre in danger, it would of been great. though the final battle between Dark Lord and Dumbledor WAS PERFECT! and the final Harry-Dark Lord scene. AMAZING love the flashbacks. the expansion of the Teens Battle is all that is missing from the film and would made up for the long set up.
speaking of flashbacks. thats on thing I LOVE ABOUT THIS FILM!!! it seemed more ARTSY FARTSY compared to the previous films. the composition of particular scenes for flashbacks are beautifully done. and camera angles and filters just adds to the beauty. the transitions from one scene to another are great. and the way they chose to do particular montages to do a subplot was perfect. its fast yet explains the concept which may have have took up 1-2 chapters. im loving all the newspaper transitions ^_^
theres only one transition that really stood out that I HATED. and it was when Harry slept at his Godfathers house and the next scene jumps to the subway with Harry Potter and Mr. Weasly confusingly going through Muggle transportation. since Harry been having nightmares, the sudden jump left you thinking if the next scene was a dream or not. thats the only transition i hated
the film was pretty good for what it was.
its still a must see. at least once for the mediocre film goers.

Well, just got back from Harry Potter and The Order Of The Phoenix and only one word comes to mind and that is...phenomenal! My favorite Potter film is Prisoner of Azkaban and this one I have to say is right up there. I loved that the director, David Yates, basically took the good elements from each of the previous directors and meshed them together for this film. The photography was almost as splendid as POA, the character interactions were as good as the first film and the action was on the same level of the last film (albeit, when the time called for action). Yates really did an amazing job especially considering this is his first big budget film. The camera work, music, effects were all spectacularly done and the final battle between Dumbledore and Voldemort was beyond awesome. Very Star Wars-ish. lol. And also, Gambon wasn't as awkward as Dumbledore. He seems to have toned down his coldness and I could see a little of the fatherly side coming through. Hopefully in the next film that will continue to shine through.
Overall, this is either tied for my fave film of the summer or comes in at number 2, not quite sure yet. lol.

I just saw the movie right after reading the book.....that was a bad idea. I liked it, but I would have liked it more I think if I hadn't just read the book. I should have waited a bit to see it...it was hard not to notice every little change or thing that wasn't explained. But still, it was decent and I'll always be a fan of the series. I just like the books a bit more.

I figured as much Oldy about those who read the books. I am going to start reading the books but I will do so after all the movies are out. I may read the first through fifth now that I've seen the movies but because they always cut things out considering the length of the books I made it a point to watch the movies first. lol. Maybe that's why I loved OOTP so much.

One thing that confused me was that Luscious was one of the dark lords death eaters in the goblet of fire and in the order of the phoenix he is just walking around in the ministry of magic like nothing. I mean all those who served the dark lord were being sent to azkaban but hes just wondering around. I mean he did try to kill Harry in the first movie with the killing curse if that hadn't been enough.

Well, from what I gathered, no one in the ministry of magic seems to have known that Luscious was one of the dark lords and that is why he was walking around like nothing.

But Harry saw him in the Goblet of fire when Voldemort was brought back, I'm sure he must have mentioned something to dumbledore, it would have been foolish of him not to.

if i remember right [not to sure since the last time i read it was long time ago] in the book he did tell. but Luscious was still able to sneak his way out. 4got exactly how since it been a long while since i last read it. something about the ministry searched his house but couldnt find any incriminating and that he was able to use his family riches to get out of various sticky situations he even told his suspesions about him after the Tom Riddle diary event. since it was him who owns it. but again he was able to sneak his way out thankfully after this one he was finally caught ^_^ so yes, the 7th book is almost upon us....this Saturday! Who else is psyched!?!?! hehe i hear you Oldie! i so cant wait to get my hands and eyes on Deathly Hallows ::squee::
