When i look at the storyboards of Phoenix rising out of teh waters i wondfer why didnt they incorporate that scene into film? Cos that is the classic Phoenix's birth when she rises out of the waters, it is a pity they cut that and instead showed a glow on Cyclops face and pans to Jean standing there instead - so sad and what anti-climax!!!! Grrrrrr, dang on the production team... that phoenix rising moment is such a classic moment which was incorporated on the storyboard but not executed on film - what a pity....

Was able to read the novel Friday at Barnes & Nobles and it was very good. There are things in the book that should have definitely made their way into the film, simple things that would have made it 100 x better.
Like for instance, instead of showing Xavier & Magneto visiting Jean as a child, why couldn't they have incorporated Jean coming into her powers after witnessing her friend getting struck by the car. That could have made for a very emotional scene as well as a grand special effects shot, especially if they allowed the Phoenix aura to manifest out of her heightened level of distress. The part about Storm battling Callisto with electric micro bursts or in human terms "Lightning fists" was such a cool add in, and would have been great to have seen that on screen.
I really wish the psychic confrontation between Phoenix & Xavier would have been in the film as well. But I have my own way of how that should have been done, and it's quite different from the book, maybe I'll add it to my new thread "X-3 Scenes: Fan Rewrites". I did not like the fact that Rogue still was not in the final battle. The kids to me didn't need protecting because Magneto's war was not with them, it was with the cure. Sounds like Rogue was just giving excuses that seemed worthy so she would have to fight, which saddened me cause Rogue is a warrior.
But anyway, good book overall. I highly recommend it.

yeah books are always better than the movies but novelizations of movies are not usually better than the movie itself. but this one is!

I read the whole thing and i have mentioned before that if Ratner have based the movie by the novel standards i am sure the movie would have been so much better and justified instead of rushed and cut, paste action sequence that made the movie sadly a high class B grade movie - pity...

I quite enjoyed the book. I think they should of filmed some of the extended scenes like Bobby freezing the cure center after Pyro destroyed it. OH and Angel seeing Storm when he was younger and was wanting to fly...i thought that was cool...at least I think it was Storm. What do you mean? Tell me more about Storm!!!! I need to know!
