I'm sorry to have to do this, but the karma feature has officially come to an end. It has come to my attention that the many negatives the feature contains outweights the positive and therefore all of the Mods have come to the conclusion that turning off the feature is the best thing for the boards.
Some of the reasons for taking it off include: Members being smited for no reason (including for just being new and not knowing how the boards work), members feeling bad because they either haven't received karma or got smited, and members asking for karma which deceives the whole purpose of the karma feature in the first place.
The forums are supposed to be a laid back and fun place to come to and talk about all things X-Men and the karma feature just doesn't support the laid back and fun atmosphere...so it was nice while it lasted and hopefully everyone will understand why it's being taken off.

Karma was definitely a fun idea and I'm sad to see it go for some reasons, however I support your decision and I agree that if it caused problems, this was probably the right way to go.

I agree completely with Oldfriend. This is very sad though....

I support your decision also. I never did like the whole karma thing and it was starting to get alittle annoying when people kept asking for karma for no reason.

No, Karma because people were getting smited??? Isn't that a part of the whole thing? This site is becoming less peronable, first sigs, now this...

yeah sirus but they were getting smitted because they're new and made a few minor mistakes because they didnt know how things worked, that's just unfair, and people sometimes had no karma and felt like no one like them as much as others, which isnt the case. I'm sure the mods have a even better substitution for this.....

well there goes the Karma giving club....but maybe instead of taking it off, "smiting" should not be allowed??? Either way it doesn't really affect the forum as a whole but...meh

yeah but you can't disable karma only for a select few,its all or nothing. Smitting comes with the karma package i guess. So if you have karma, you have smitting.

No, Karma because people were getting smited??? Isn't that a part of the whole thing? This site is becoming less peronable, first sigs, now this... That is not the only reason why the feature is being taken off and I might add that some people have been unfairly smited just because they are new and therefore don't know the rules of the board yet. You don't know the countless e-mails the staff has gotten from new people who end up feeling bad because of the fact that they have been unfairly smited. I kind of wish the feature was never implemented so I would not have had to come to the decision to take it off, but it was and now it's gone because the negative aspects outweight the positive. Believe me I wish in exchange for Karma I could put back the sig banners but that is not in my hands.

I think feeling bad about it is kinda... childish though. I don't mean to be rude.

I understand why you say that sirius, but I can also understand the other's who may have felt bad. I don't know, I just think the forum is better off without it. I will say this...I wish, I so wish I could have switched karma for banners or something as cool but I can't...unfortunately. Sure DPK, PM me whatever suggestion you have...

i never really understood why the karma thing was there in the first place, it kinda made no sense, it actually made me feel like i owed something to the boards, (like you only get karma if you load something for someone, which i have absolutely no idea how to do) which isn't the case, i just come here to talk about my fav. subject, x-men.

Damn. First banners and now karma.
Who would just smite someone for being new and not knowing the rules? This forum is great, but there are some people on here who deserve to be kicked out. I'd like to know how they function in their normal lives when they can't even act mature on a forum.
*gah*
R.I.P Karma

Well we shouldn't make poor Downhere feel guilty about it... Goldenflame does hold a point though... It really isn't fair to people who took karma seriously, and gave it to people who deserved it, and smited them if they needed it... (sorry if that didn't make sense..)
I'm serious DH. DON'T FEEL GUILTY. You did what you had to do. That is (should be) the end of it.
