Well, I got the chance to see Cloverfield this morning, and all I can say is: wow! The movie is pretty intense. I don't want to give anything away, but just be aware...if you get motion sickness easily, this might be a rough ride for you. The handycam method makes it seem very realistic...well....about as realistic as a monster movie can be. I'm glad there aren't any pictures on the net of this thing yet, because that leaves the whole thing a mystery going in. It would be very easy to hate this movie because it's not your typical popcorn flick you are used to seeing. This is supposed to be from the perspective of someone's camera, much like Blair Witch Project (which i didn't like very much) and it makes it seem more real. You are pretty much right there with the characters, feeling what they are feeling....and it makes the events of the film seem that much more horrifying. Overall, I'm very satisfied, and I think the movie lived up to the hype generated by the teaser and viral marketing campaign. I know this year is brand new, but Cloverfield might end up being one of the top films of 2007.

I loved this movie. Yes i got a bit queasy throughout, but overall it was a good flick. The monster was cool and surpassed any idea i even had in mind, but i do still have some questions of course, but im not going to aske them here because they involve various spoilers. But i understand the whole thing because in the end we have even more questions about the monster than we went in with. It's supposed to be from the PoV of a regular group of friends, do we really expect a scientist with a powerpoint slide to come around the corner and give us a breakdown of everything. But they do in fact show us part of the monster's beginnings at the very end of the movie, int he flashback sequence, as a hint for all so they can find it, look directly at the boat, you dont want to waste time looking around, right behind the boat you should see the little easter egg in there.
Storywise, it was superb, i love the backstory to the relationship with all of these friends, and how one man went so far to save the one he came to the realisation that he loved, but i want more! i have so many questions and hopes for the characters involved which mad eme like the movie all the more better. It was kind of strange seeing my home be destroyed, it was jsut weird because every area in the movie, i frequent those places alot, so it was just weird.
Last words, it was a great movie, loved it to bits, surpassed my expectations, and can't wat for the imminent sequel.
And as a side note, anyone catch the Dharma easter egg logo on in the beginning on the military intro?
