I love both movie franchise's but to be truthful I think Superman will win. And the only reason why I say that is because he's a cult icon, there's no one that doesn't know who he is, he's as pure as the American Flag. Superman has been around far longer then X-men, and I just think that it will over pass X-3. But I still love X-men way more then Superman, but the "Man Of Steel" totally has a run for his money.

the new actor they got playing superman is whimpy looking and i a tad bit tired of the costume. its freakin 2006- change it! Here's how the studio describes the film: * "Following a mysterious absence of several years, the Man of Steel comes back to Earth in the epic action-adventure Superman Returns, a soaring new chapter in the saga of one of the world¹s most beloved superheroes. While an old enemy plots to render him powerless once and for all, Superman (Brandon Routh) faces the heartbreaking realization that the woman he loves, Lois Lane (Kate Bosworth), has moved on with her life. Or has she? Superman¹s bittersweet return challenges him to bridge the distance between them while finding a place in a society that has learned to survive without him. In an attempt to protect the world he loves from cataclysmic destruction, Superman embarks on an epic journey of redemption that takes him from the depths of the ocean to the far reaches of outer space." not feeling it much. X3 however, wo0t wo0t!

Superman Returns: After all those threats from former screenwriters and directors that they wanted to inject "Matrix"-ish elements into this movie, here we have a completely retro superhero costume, and it is *exactly* what I think this movie needs.
X-Men 3: There's so much hype and anticipation for this film. With every new update from the set of X-Men 3 we have been reassured that things were back on track. The teaser trailer looked solid, the full trailer looks incredible and, during the middle of last month, Ratner had no problem coming out and raving about the film with confidence. I think Brett Ratner isn't on Singers level as a director but I can see him giving the X-Men franchise a bang it needs in the action department. Ratner will probably neglect all the character building that Singer did, and I'm not sure Ratner will be able to deliver the same quality as Singer, but it's difficult to say. I couldn't say which will do better, but I confidentally expect X-Men 3 to have the better story, filming, depth, and acting. Not that the Superman Returns cast aren't all gifted actors. BUT, I do believe it takes a good director to bring out a good performance in the cast.
Depending on the outcome of the film, Brett Ratner will either be the guy who saved the X-Men trilogy started beautifully by Bryan Singer or as the director who went down with the ship.

X3 without a doubt. Supes will have an impressive weekend but as for longevity not as much as X3. X3 will still be raking in dough after Supes comes out...Destiny told me so in my dreams -lol.

I still have confidence in X3...Superman will be a huge box office hit, but I believe X3 will still pull it off and reign in more money.

I still have confidence in X3...Superman will be a huge box office hit, but I believe X3 will still pull it off and reign in more money. It really depends. As someone who has always looked at box office numbers, the chances for X3 to really beat Superman are kind of on the slim side. But then again there are many unknown variables to consider with Superman. With X3, we can look at the previous films to see how this one will do. Personally, I just hope it can crack 500 million worldwide as that would show a considerable growth from the previous film. I'm not really sure it can "break-out" and make more than that yet. ^ That is just me being realistic. Now on my more hopeful side, I do hope it squashes Superman. But this runtime thing is worrying me.

Superman Returns will win in the box office, simply for being an 'event movie'
But at the end of the day, The X-men are way better, as Superman wears blue and red spandex and the X-men wear black leather.

I chose X-Men on a purely bias level. I've just never been all that interested in Superman. He's too bland, too nice, too pure, too wholesome.
He IS a cultural icon though and is one of the most recognised characters the world over. Everyone knows Superman. The move will rake it in big time. But for me personally...the teaser did absolutely nothing for me. I wasn't excited. I was bored. The X3 teaser just had me on the edge of my seat begging for more.
I want Superman to do well, because I love Bryan Singers work and this is a lifetime dream of his. Will I go and see it? I'll have to see a full proper trailer that really grabs me and draws me in.

X-Men will succeed, not because Superman is played out, but because it is a proven product. X-Men allows viewers to see various mutants displaying their unique power and gives them a plethora of supermans in one movie. Not to mention the plot is flawless. Mutants fighting for human co-existing vs. Mutants fighting for supremacy. There's everything a person could possibly want in the trailer! *Or at least for me!* ;D

X-MEN are more diverse as they contain everybody's favorite superhero and villains... The side og Good and bad are not really distinct in the X-MEN universe, cos as audience we empathised why the villains behave that way, we dun hate them but in Superman, it is more clear cut that is focus on one character that's it! The other vilaains are juz made out to bad bad @$$ that leave no room for empathy... so I still think X-MEN wins... However i wish X-mEN should have been properly franchised and marketed well in those days...that way they should more popular now.It is becos MARVEL didnt do a good job to preserve X-MEN and market them properly, that;s whyt MARVEL went bankrupt and on a hiatus for few years before reopening under new management... So all the years lost has lost the flavor of Marvel charactrers.... But not all hope is lost yet, this movie will rekindle the fire and passion for most X-fans and bring in new fans too..

Well, from what I have seen in my neck of the woods, people I know are dismissing Superman as a remake, so they wont bother to go see it. I'm giving X-Men the edge, and for so many reasons.
Wolverine, in this day and age, is the ideal superhero now. He has aheart, but is sarcastic, witty and very animal like. His personality has endured the ages and fits like a glove in this day's society. He alone will bring in a tremendous amount of viewers.
The fact that there is more a derverse amount of characters, and different elements of challenges for each character to be had. That is more funner to watch, then watching Superman's only weakness be krytonite.
Ian McKellan is bringing a huge fan base after the LOTR films. Superman has no one I can think of that is in that caliber, and if people like it or not, famous or likable faces sell films. Just look at how Mission Impossible is doing in the theaters right now (compared to a supposedly remake, The Poseidon)
I can also see more people taking return trips to watch X-Men: The Last Stand than to see Superman Returns. It just simply offers more for the general public.
Superman does look cool, but so does X-Men, and at the moment, I find more people getting excited over X-Men, than superman.

I retract my statement.
After some new trailers of superman arising, it seems he is picking up mad steam. And after the huge drop of X-Men in the second week, I don't know. I think X-Men will beat SR on the domestic front, but overseas, I have a feeling it'll crush X-Men.
