I just saw X2 again for the millionth time and the ending troubled me because they just lost Jean after saving their lives and the X-men did not pay any tribute to her. "Where's the love?" So here is my version of the ending.
With Jean's voice narrating...
"Mutation...it is the key to our evolution,"
Scene: Arial shot of the lawn in the back of X-mansion where a eulogy for their fallen comrade, Jean Grey, is taking place. Professor X is at the podium with Scott, Ororo, Logan, Kurt, Rogue, Iceman, and Jean's parents and older sister (Sarah, played by Julliene Moore) and niece and nephew are sitting behind the professor as he address the guest and the rest of the students and alumni. The camera focuses on Scott for awhile since after all he just lost the love of his life apparently. (No voice is heard except for Jean in the background but the audience will get the picture that everyone is sad).
"It is how we evolved from a single cell organism into the dominant species of the planet,"
Scene: Arial shot of Alkali Lake starting from the forest to the lake itself, much like the ending of X2 right now. Then, the camera dives down into the waters with bubbles all around.
"This process is slow, normally taking thousanths and thousandths of years,"
The camera goes to the very bottom of the lake where it focuses on a glowing orb in the distance. The camera goes for a close-up and the orb is actually an egg (**it's not an actual egg per say but a energy field, a telekinetic shield that resembles an egg -thanks ororomunroe42188 for the suggestion), glowing with life with fishes swimming past it -afraid of it it seems.
"But every other few hundred millenia...."
The camera goes inside the energy cocoon where we see Jean Grey in hibernation in a fetal position, glowing with energy.
"Evolution leaps foward."
The camera goes for a close-up of her face. Then suddenly, Jean's eyes open.
Fade to black.
So what do you think y'all. Any comments?

that' would've totally worked on screen, great job.
The whole thing was great just that the Egg part kinda reminded me of 1998 Godzilla ending.

Hey phoenix-kid,
Yeah, I think the ending I came up with would have been better.
As for the whole egg thing, I got it from the comics in which in the future after Phoenix died yet again at the present time (written by Grant Morrison) by Xenon impersonating Magneto, who gave Jean a heart attack, went to the distant future to a dystopian time where Beast is insane and the evil ruler of the world. Anyway, the remaining good X-men searches for Jean, who they find in the Blue section of the moon where Jean committed suicide earlier before encased in an egg-like cocoon. I guess the egg symbolizes the whole Phoenix thing since the Phoenix is a legendary bird.

i think that would have been awsome but instead of an egg maybe have a telekinetic shell

^^^Thanks ororomunroe42188 and the whole telekenetic shield would be better since the egg thing I came up with sounds cheezy. Peace.

First part sounds like the memorial in X3

WOW! Brilliant Herald.
That would've totally worked. I agree with you on the original ending to X2 and found it kind of stale, especially they just lost a very loved member of the team -Jean Grey, and made it look like she just took off to somewhere and quit instead of dying or something. A memorial at the end would have been more appropriate and a tear jerker, and that twist in the end when everyone thought she was really dead and really she's not, would have been a better twist than that flame reflection under the water.
Nice job...you should think about a career in the movies or something. Think about it?

I know StacyXsPayer23. I must be psychic because I came out with this possible ending before I even saw any glimpse of X3's memorial.
As for Psionbird, thanks. I'm digging all the purple you have from your avatar to your new banner -very kewl.

there are several different ways the movie could have ended without her death but if it didnt end in her death, we wouldnt probably have the third film on the way.

I agree with you lightninggoddess that the ending of X2 could have ended with Jean not sacrifing herself. They (writers) could have saved it for X3, which would lead to the new storyline (or trilogies) like the Phoenix saga.

well i made up my own ending and it goes something like this im taking off after prof x notices jean isnt there with them
prof x: jean
logan: wait a minute wheres jean
prof x: shes outside
Scott jumps off his seat heading to the dorr but its to late jean closes it.
scott: no! lower the ramp were not leaving without her
storm: i cant
Scott blast the door down and tries to get off the jet and get jean but before he has a chance she wipes his mind clean causing him to lose contience
(she dint want the love of her life to watch her die)
the water damm shatters completly rushing thourgh jean while she uses her powers to bend it off
logan: storm hurry can u go out there and hol the water back
storm: i cant theres to much water i could over flow the entire jet if i lose controll
Suddently jean makes contact with the proffesor x
Jean: i know what im doing
this is the only way
im sorry
tell scott i love him but i coulnt let him do what he was going to
storm: shes controling the jet
the jeat is back to full power and she water shatters jean blah blah blah and they go home scott wakes up he devestated all that crap and then when they show the lake again you hear jeans voice and it says
Mutation...it is the key to our evolution It is how we evolved from a single cell organism into the dominant species of the planet This process is slow, normally taking thousanths and thousandths of years but every hundred milenia evolution leaps ( the camaras zoom into the water) a splatering red light covers the lake and wings sorround an object jean rises from the water and then opens her eyes and falls back down in the lake and at the same time jeans voice says forword.
i love the other ending that person made but i dint really like the part with the egg i profer the part with her rising from the water but it kind gives to much about x-men 3 away but w/e i like both of them.

WoWser, Herald...I think you have a fan with your ending. Like I suggested before and windsurfer, beast, xmen3gal, and I agree that you should definitely go to a career writing screenplay because it is that good...better than good, it was freakin awesome . And oh, thanks for the compliment. I'm digging all the purple too, thanks partly to dark phoenix for giving me that awesome signature banner. Ciao.

It also sent chills down my spine. Thanks beast, xmen3gal, and of course psionbird ;Dfor the positive remarks too. I will think about what you said about a career choice, or maybe go to writing...hmmm?
