I just got stuck by a lightening bold of thought! This movie takes place in mid-late 70's, right! The mutants in this movie are the age equivalents to their comic book counterparts (except scott for what we know), this could potentially be a huge problem. Why? One reason i can think of is Gambit and everyone's hope for his inclussion in X4, he is going to be how old?, about 25 years old in the movie (based on the actor portraying him), if he was to ever appear in another future x-men movie(as in x4-6) he would be a 55 year old man! Talk about continuity issues!

i think the only reason gambit is in this movie because there is no hope for an x4. and everybody wanted gambit in those movies including myself so they are trying to bring into the series to make people happy. Personally i'd rather gambit not be in it because it makes no sense same with a young cyke.

I think Gambit will cooperate with Sabretooth in the end of this movie (and that should be 90's)

Agreed Kasjan! but now we have confirmation of X-4...kinda! and with Ema Frost being in the movie for sure, perhaps X4(First Class) will really be X1.
Think about it. Gambit and Emma Frost and Beast would all be about 55 like you said based on what we know, so since we know this movie will be called X-Men First Class, and knowing that the Comic book title of the same name is a remastered version of the original team, perhaps we will have an earlier team of Emma, Gambit, Beast and perhaps others(Magneto/Quicksilver/Scarlet Witch/Blob) with Magneto splitting his own way to pave the way for the Magneto movie making it an even more direct spin-off
I know most of you will say this sucks because it makes no sense but look. None of it so far is true to comics, but it has worked. We've watched and loved it. None of you can argue that for you wouldn't be reading this now.
If correcting the character misplacements means misplacing more in other movies, I say ....go for it!! Actors age. They must act quickly and it seems that Marvel has figured everything out.
Maybe!

Pathmaster, good points.
I posted elsewhere that first class in the movieverse would probably not be the original 5 X-Men from the comics because of age/continuity issues, but it could be Cyke/Jean/Beast/Gambit/Emma Frost with Quicksilver/Scarlet Witch/etc. as well.

i wouldnt mind seeing gambit or emma in their 50s. there are some great looking actors in their late 40s and 50s still. beast in x3 sure did look somewhat 50s ish and he looked great for the part.
and this first class not being "first class" im so up for it. it would piss off MANY fans. but it really does add up better to be emma, beast, gambits as young adults. and jean, scott, storm, as lil tiny kids...

Ya know, that's three of us that like this crazy conspiracy! Makes one think that perhaps it's not so crazy. Huzzah!

Gambit in this movie is about 20 years old, and this action is 17 years ago. So in X4 he will be about 40. Josh Holloway is ideal.

ahhh, well played sir! He was a rather unanimous choice if I recall by us for playing Gambit through the X3 production. That could work well.
