Wow, just when you thought the Magneto movie would never get a director before Wolverine, that's exactly what happens. It seems like David Goyer has signed on to take on our favorite X-Men bad guy. www.superherohype.com/news/topnews.php?id=5581

Well, I'm not so sure on his abilities as a director considering many panned Blade Trinity and his current film The Invisible, but his writing ability is fantastic. I just hope he learned from his mistakes directing and will step it up for Magneto.

Yeah, I think it is a prequel. I'm still kind of surprised they actually attached a director to this film, before Wolverine even. I really never expected this movie to be made. Something about it doesn't seem like it would be appealing to the mainstream. Even though, I love Magneto and I would probably love the movie, but the general audience? Not so sure.

+From G4tv's THE FEED+ (Article Below)
Even bad guys get movies in the superhero universe. Take our old friend Magneto, for example, who will be getting a film directed by David Goyer (Blade: Trinity, The Invisible) about his life in the long-ago times, when he was out hunting down the Nazis who made his existance a living hell.
Now, neither Ian McKellen nor Patrick Stewart will be featured in the film, as it takes place many years in the past, but both Magneto and Professor Xavier will be characters in it. Think of Magneto as a sort of origin story about the man, and forget what you know about him, because odds are he's going to be a pretty sympathetic character in this story.
+Dark Horizons.com: Goyer Has A "Magneto" Attraction+ (ARTICLE BELOW)
David Goyer ("Blade: Trinity," "The Invisible") will direct "Magneto", the "X-Men" spin-off in early development at Twentieth Century Fox and Marvel Studios.
The story focuses on a young Magneo as he comes to grips with his mutant ability to manipulate metal objects as he and his parents try to survive in Auschwitz. Magneto meets Professor Xavier when the latter is a soldier liberating the concentration camp.
Magneto hones his powers by hunting down and killing Nazi war criminals who tortured him, and his lust for vengeance turns Xavier and Magneto into enemies.
The characters will not be played by Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart, rather by actors in their twenties. Goyer will be working off a script by Sheldon Turner.
Fox and Marvel are already hard at work on another "X-Men" spin-off, "Wolverine" which is on the fast-track hunt for a director and will likely be made before "Magneto."
