I have Adobe CS2 and I have been making regular avis and sigs but I just can't figure this out....it would be greatly appreciated. I want to make something for my friend but it is just between us so I am keen on learning...thanx! Example:

Hey Fiery, you have CS2, so you should have ImageReady...correct?
You have to use ImageReady to make animated GIFs. Now, there is a window that you can find, that's called the Animation Palette/Window thingy, iono for sure. Anyways, you can upload files into ImageReady, where it will break the mini-movie into frames. With these frames you get your animaated gif, you can play around a bit with these. Ok? Then there's a button to send your finished result back to Photoshop, and then you click 'Save for Web' and save it as an animated GIF.
Now, I could go into more detail, but I think if you look at the Adobe Help thing that's on the computer, and type in 'Animated GIF' in the search box, you will get a lot of info, better than I can help you.
It's hard for me to explain it, because I don't have ImageReady, I just got the trial...So my program is a bit different, so the way I do things is a little different than all these people with CS2, and Photoshop.

i do the short cut for movie files, but its an entirely different issue if ur making ur own animations (points to avas) then its this long process of frameing...>.<
HINT: NEVER NEVER CHANGE A RANDOM FRAME FROM IN THE IMIDDLE..it will ONLY affect that frame
