Im definitely going to buy it despite the fact I think the number of playable character is outrageous and disappointing um...i dont think i agree on that one. i think by being three characters, it allowed the developers to really capture the mutant's powers and personalities. they really seem to be unique in this game. have you seen the character trailers on IGN? the site also has been able to play some of the game, and gave it rave reviews. i'll try and find that article again

take a look at what i found on gamespy
Unlike many of the previous X-Men games, which allowed players to control a large number of the mutants, the guys at Z-Axis decided to focus solely on three of the heroes: Nightcrawler, Iceman, and Wolverine (after all, you can't have an X-Men title without everyone's favorite bladed psychopath). While some fans might be disappointed that their personal favorite didn't make the cut, the developers figured that it was better to have three unique characters with fully realized powers than a dozen with just a move or two. All three heroes will be featured in environments that were created specifically to show off their powers, and we were told that Wolverine will have just a few more than the other two.
it makes total sense to me now...i am excited to experience the powers!!

i like the fact that they use the movie costumes instead of the daggy cartoon ones which they did in a former x-men movie based game

^ me too but I'd like some sort of feedback on the game so i know its worth the money! Alrighty, then... Yep, I just couldn't resist knowing that there's an X-Men game out there that I haven't played...so I payed $42.17 to get the full experience. Keep in mind I've only had the game for an hour, but I'm already on the fifth level. This is what I think.. Graphics- I have it on Gamecube, and boy, my little cubey has never shined so much! The graphics are fantastic! There is so much detail, so much detail! From each mark on Kurt's face to each icicle falling from Iceman's slide- the graphics are great. The characters stand out very well, but it doesn't use any stupid cell-shading technique from XML2. Its full-out 3d, and I'm loving it. Sound- The inclusion of the X2 theme made me jump for joy when I first heard the familiar bum-bum-bum, but the rest of the soundtrack is no where near as good. Most of the music is forgettable, and I barely noticed it was there. The voicework is pretty well done, and the sound effects are great. I just wish they used a more 'bamp' sound for Kurt's teleportation over just a 'swoosh'. Cutscenes and Dialogue- Despite being written by Claremont and Penn, the dialogue is cheesy and fails horribly. I mean, when Storm is steering the X-Jet, she tells everyone aboard to "put their seats in the up right position". I'm not sure if it was meant to be humorous, but it just made me upset- Storm, even movie Storm, wouldn't say that. Dissapointing. The cutscenes, compared to those of XML2, are complete poop, but the'yre okay standing alone. I mean, the comic-page feel of them is kind of interesting, but it bothers me that they don't move...It looks like each cutscene took an hour to do...sad...sad.. Controls- Good. Not perfect controls, but they're easy enough to remember. Wolverine and Nightcrawler get their usual punches and kicks, and Icey gets his beams. The controls on Icey's slide are really cool- the best part of the game so far. Gameplay- Wolverine: Wolverine is stricly melee, with some interesting moves. His heavy attack is pretty powerful, but gets monotonous after using it so much for one-hit kills. I like his jum-attacks, and his rage meter is a welcomed addition. He's alright. Nightcrawler: His teleportation is awesome, although limited to certain 'smoke spots'. He can teleport behind enemies to beat their butts, which is cool. Otherwise, he practically dies if eh stands in front of them. His basic attacks are very acrobatic, and seem true to both the comic and movie versions. Better than Wolverine, but his teleportation isn't all what it was hyped up to be. Iceman: Other reviewers call him the underdog, but I say he's the best of the three. Complete with a 'hailstorm' (actually, more of a ball of ice), an 'ice shield', and an icebeam that freezes everything it encounters. Despite these original powers, he truly shines on the iceslide! Its just as much fun to play around with as it is to watch! Very fluid movements, easy turns, great acceleration, and easy to aim. The best. Overall- Overall, I give the game a B-. Truthfully, Iceman is the game's only saving grace in terms of characters. Storm and Cyclops should have definetly been made playable, seeing as ranged characters seem to work better in such games. Yes, Wolverine and Nightcrawler are fine, but are not unique enough. The dialogue needs a full facelift, someone get Whedon on here. While the graphics are simply unbelievable, the cutscenes are horrid for the most part- again, no animation. Just random pictures with voice-overs. Final Words: Rent it. Give it chance, get the story down- buts its not worth the full buying price. I made a mistake by buying it, and I'll be re-selling it in a month or so to save up for Ultimate Alliance (which, surprisingly, appears in an advertisement on the back cover of the instruction booklet). From what I've heard, it takes less than 10 hours to clear- again, not worth the store price at all.

I've heard that the game isn't all that because wolverine's levels are all the sameand there's not much variation in the game. Is this true?
