Well, I was originally going to call this thread "Indiana Jones Trilogy," but of course....it is no longer a trilogy. The new movie "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" will see a release this Thursday, May 22nd. What are your thoughts on this...the first Indy film in about 20 years? Also, feel free to discuss the previous movies. I mean, Harrison isn't getting any younger, but I grew up on these films so I'll definitely be there on the 22nd!

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Non-spoiler Review:
I had the chance to watch the new Indiana Jones film yesterday, and I have since decided that I need to view it again...not so much because it's the greatest thing I've ever seen, but because I need to figure out how I really feel about it. I'm still a bit confused about what I just witnessed, and I will go as far as to say this was one of the strangest theater experiences I can recall in recent memory. By no means does this mean it was a bad movie. In fact, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was a pretty decent flick in many ways.
The action sequences were cheesy and over-the-top at times, but that's what we've come to know and love about the Indy films. Of course, there were a few parts in the movie that were a bit too ridiculous for me to handle, but all I could do was laugh them off. There was one scene in particular involving monkeys that made me cringe, but let's just leave it at that for now.
As far as the acting is concerned, I have no complaints. It's great to see Harrison Ford out there donning the hat and whip one more time (even though I still think they might have been better off leaving it as a trilogy) and Shia LaBoeuf does a good job in his role as well. Sadly, there was no Sean Connery in this one, but you might notice Indy has taken up some of his dad's old habits, and that was a really cool addition to the film.
The story itself is the biggest issue for me. The legend of the crystal skulls is a real legend and is actually quite interesting. I have no problem with Lucas and Spielberg using these items as the focus of the film. I also like setting this film in the late 50's, as opposed to the 30's, because it's helps explain why the character has aged so much. It also opens the door to explore different world issues that were taking place during that time period. My problem is with certain twists in the film that I simply cannot mention here in order to save you from spoilers. There were certain times during the film during which I simply did not feel like I was watching and Indiana Jones movie. It just seemed a bit too weird for me. It's not something that can be explained here without giving away spoilers, so you'll simply have to see it.
Once again, don't get me wrong..the movie is fun. It's just a bit weird at times, and expect to laugh at a few things that you probably weren't meant to laugh at. Overall, it is an entertaining movie, even if you walk out of the theater asking yourself if it was another Indy film you just watched...or something else....

I love Indiana Jones!!! I went to see it a day after the movie came out...I thought it was amazing!!! Not as good as the other three, but I still loved it!!! Great plot, great actors, great directing! I also loved the humor in it! Haha. Shia LeBouf did a very good job, I thought...I was impressed. It's nice seeing Harrison Ford back on the big screen as Indy!!!

The more I think about it, it really was a great movie. It had all the elements we've come to know and love about Indy films. I think the critics are being too hard on it.
