i was researching randomly some x-men stuff online and came across the synopsis for X2 and as i was reading the part concerning a "mutant assassin" i immediately thought of "psylocke." of course brian singer went with nightcrawler, and it worked out great, but psylocke could have worked as well because she can travel through shadows and she could have potentially been under stryker's control serum.
just a random thought i wanted to share.

you know if Stryker was really smart he would have sent in Kurt and Betty for the job like a duo mission.. like in the beginning when the guy asks are you lost and OMG just wait im gonna make some manips alright you guys to show you what i mean and they are gonna suck but u'll get the idea..

Yes it is quite possible they could have introduced Psylocke earlier. In x-2 as a matter of fact. I loved Nightcrawler in X-2 and he was such a strong yet comedic character, however being Psylocke was once an assassin, they could have used her in the opening sequence, taking down the security with her kenetic blade, how awsome would that have been. But of course, have this be Stryker's doing as far as controling her with his serum. Then she could have been the one to join the team and possibly be in X-3. Because Allen Cummings main reason for not coming back I think was the extremely long make up process it took for him to get is costume. With Psylocke , no one would have to worry about that.

Actually, I think Cumming said he wanted to come back, and hoped they would ask him to. But they decided not to add him because his character doesn't matter. Which basically means, it would be too much money for him to be in the film

Psylocke was actually supposed to be in X2, according to Chris Clairmont's X2 novelization. There were several ideas that were either expanded upon or cut out of the movie in the novel... many of which had to do with more scenes for minor characters...
Psylocke was supposed to have been seen on a city street during the cerebro attack on mutants- with her screaming in pain because her powers were going haywire and she had a telepathic link to everyone else's pain.
Other awesome scenes that should have stayed in the film were as follows, and I feel that X-Men 2 would have been a lot better with these scenes in them:
Jubilee's museum power scene, along with dialogue she had with the younger students while at the museum. Jubilee's power scene during the raid on the X-Mansion... in which she blasts a soldier through a wall before she is shot by a tranquilizer dart.
Siryn and Multiple flirting outside near the fountain.
Paige Guthrie/Husk using her powers to shed away when a soldier grabs her... escaping to safety.
Rhane Sinclair turning into a wolf to escape the mansion.
Siryn and Kitty shopping for some food with some other kids after they escape the mansion... and then the cerebro mutant attack causes their powers to go crazy, with Siryn breaking all of the glass with her scream, and Kitty phasing up into the atmosphere uncontrollably.
Gambit playing cards at a bar, and then the whole table blows up.
Dr. McCoy turning into the Beast when the cerebro attack takes place.
These are all of the extra character power scenes I remember from the novel... sadly none of them, except Jubilee's deleted museum scene, made the cut.

Or maybe Stryker sent both Nightcrawler and Psylocke to assasinate the pres or at least make it look like one. Both Nightcrawler and Psylocke could have moved about using there powers in tandem as they disposed each and everyone of the security officers. That scene would have been incredible (and expensive) to have Nightcrawler "bamfing" about, while Psylocke moved through the shadows using her psychic katanna on the guards .

In reply to Lady's comment on Beast's cameo in X2 yeah I noticed it but Beast wasn't always blue. People act like he was when really his mutation was just really big hands and feet and great athletic skills. Messing around with chemicals and stuff is what caused him to grow blue fur and his canine teeth to grow. So Beast could've turned blue after X2

yeah but Beast's "human form" during the cameo didnt seem to have big hands, he seemed pretty "normal" human

i think having Psylocke introduced earlier would have meant that there were a lot of telepathes in this movie. We already had the Professor, Jean and Mastermind. Psylocke is better suited coming in later. If she had appeared with Nightcrawler in the opening sequence then this would have stolen his thunder. He needed to have a scene to shine as he played a vital role in the movie.

I have a dude; is Jason Stryker a Mastermind's cameo or is just a totally different character?

I don't think he was offically mastermind but Jason was sort of based on him.

I always wondered if Jason was based on anyone. I found his character rediculously annoyign nonetheless, especially how he projected himself as a little girl who wouldn't stop whining.
I would ahve loved for Psylocke but unfortunately I think that Nightcrawler is a bit more mainstream than she is, and it appears that as far as the good guys go, they've been using Tier 1 mutants, whereas they get a bti more obscure for the badguys (Arclight anyone?).

I think her powers would be hard to convert in x2. But I am excited to see her in X3!

as its said before...... the whole Nightcrawler and Psylocke team in the beggining of the movie would be great but Psylocke would steal the spotlight away from Nightcrawler........ I think Psylocke should have been used in X2 but near the end as one of Stryker's bodyguards (like Lady Deathstrike)...... a lot of mutants could have been introduced as bodyguards of Stryker.....like Psylocke could have fought Storm and Nightcrawler while they were on their way to save the x-kids.... and maybe Avalanche could have fought off Cyclops and Jean while they were on their way to Black Cerebro........i dont know its just a thought
