Not sure about the timeline, maybe you should ask Mr Brett.

I think it's something like seven months or eight. I mean, look at Jean's hair and Bobby (he looks kinda older ).

I always initially thought it was at least 8 or 9 months after X-Men 2 because of Jean's hair. I mean it was it was little more past her ears in X-2, hair does not grow that fast in the space of a a few weeks like some people thought at the beginning on this thread. If it did somehow grow that fast there would have to be something involved with the Phoenix, but there probably isn't. So yeah I'd say about a year. If it was any less than damn her hair grows fast!
Also Rogue's and Bobby's relationship seems strained, which would take a long period of time to progress as it is seen in the trailer.

i think the movie itself happens over diferent times, look at kittys hair, in one of the scans of her in the x-jet she had short hair, and sometimes its long.

I think its not that long after X2. Why would they wait a year to do Jean's Funeral? And maybe her hair did grow fast b/c of the phoenix. But I dunno.

it should be like a few weeks if not even days Hmmm......that would'nt explain the new president, Jean's hair longitude....new students, ect. I would say it's 3 years, exactly the ammount of time it took the movie to be released from X2.....I think 3 years is perfect.

Er did ya ever notice that Kitty actually has her hair up in ponytail and it is not cut shorter actually? Pls observe carefuly. Her hair is in layers so when she bunned it up, it appears like she has shorter hair with her layered bangs covering her face , anyone agrees?

The time span between X2 and X3 should a couple of years. Although the time span between X1 and X2 is a few months only, the reason is that more time should be given to the characters and their powers to evolve throughout the movie.
Otherwise how would the audience see the Bobby/Rogue/Kitty triangle; Cyclops detachment away from X-MEN; Storm's blossoming relationship with Logan; newly recruited X-MEN: Colossus, Kitty, Rogue, Iceman and Jubilee to evolve in their powers; Magneto's ever increasing Brotherhood Of Evil Mutants, Jean's evolution into Phoenix?!!
All these doesn't come in a short time span. And if this happens only few months after X2, then the writers are crazy and unrealistic! Agree?!

in X1 rogue is 17 like storm said in the train station. Kinberg on the Xverse said that kitty was 19 in this one so i guess that rogue is too. that makes 2-3 between 1 and three so i guess at least 1 year has passed

I agree, we should give it at least one year for the storyline to develop. Otherwise it is impossible for the incidents i mentioned, to evolve in such a short time. Jean's hair from short to long is impossible to grow out that fast within one year. Normal human hair growth is one inch/month actually, so unless Jean went to get hair extensions (haha!), the person is not Jean but the Phoenix Force disguising to look like Jean instead. Notice the intensity of the red color in Jean's hair?

There is no 'Phoenix Force" in the film. Jean's new powers are apart of her evolution. Her powers are expanding beyond her control, but there is no Phoenix Force or celestial entity possessing her or anything of that nature, the writers have made that clear that they stayed away from those types of story lines to keep the tone of the films, for they are suppose to come across as something you could possibly see happening in reality, taking it to a level where some space goddess inhabits a person's body doesn't come off as being grounded in reality. More than likely Jean's rapid hair growth and new intense coloring is due to her power evolvement.

Yeah and now she also possesses the power of excelerated hair growth... lol But there's no way I'm complaining about that! She'd be weird looking if she had short hair. lol
And I agree that there needs to be time for the storyline to develop. But the last I heard... Was that X3 picks up 6 months after X2 left off.

Not sure abt that... it shd be at least one year.. read my prev thread... BTW, i dun understand why Weather Goddess insist there is no Phoenix Force... and juz simply Jean's evolving into omega mutant? It is highly impossible for Jean to survive in the flood at Alkali Lake unless her powers have evolve such a way that commands the Phoenix force to empower her to becoming a Force. Otherwise why did she join the Brotherhood? It was told that she has a mind of alittle girl - like in the comics, the phoenix is innocent and led astray by the Hellfire Club. Only when the phoenix is torn between X-MEN and hellfire club, she is provoked and the dark force arises within.
In this film, there wil be no hellfire club but instead the Brotherhood turn againsty her and she was provoked blah blah, her powers become invisible. Pls dun dismiss the Phoenix Force , weather goddess. Already EMPIRE and PREMIERE magazines has revealed she will be Phoenix under control by Magneto... Period

Nah there's no Phoenix 'force'. It's to far fetched to have a cosmic entity fly in from outta space and possess Jean. I cant remember if it was Ratner or the writer's that said they weren't including the Phoenix 'force' but it has been said...
She's just really powerful and cant control it, goes a bit psychotic and joins Mag's. lol

apollolancer I totally disagree with you. you have to remember this is a special story line on its own and the writers have stayed with a grounded sort of movie. Jean "evolved" into the Phoenix without an entity or celestial being to aid in her transformation. You have to remember that whether or not it hapenned in the comics or in the cartoons the writers arent following the storylines exactly. A lot of things dont make complete sense about Jean but its a movie and for the sake of others who arent X-men fans they dont put in every single detail otherwise people wouldnt understand.
