A little update. I saw X3 again yesterday and I have to say that it was so much better after a second viewing. I still have my gripes with how Cyclops was handled and basically giving his role in the Phoenix Saga to Wolverine but overall I thought it was a fantastic film. It still needed more time to develop things but it is a worthy entry in the X-Men franchise. I hope to see it at least one more time before it leaves theaters. I change my 7/10 rating to a 9/10 rating.
X1 - 8.5/10 X2 - 10/10 X3 - 9/10

^ Wow glad to see you like it more downhere, my second viewing will occur tonight and I can't wait!
I must be honest though, I think after I watch X3 again, I'll probably find it to be my favorite. I mean, I think X1 was a great introduction to the characters and storylines, and was a fantastic film, especially considering the budget. X2 was certainly the best in terms of character development and storyline progression...BUT I feel X3 was the best in terms of action and EMOTION.....and emotion is what I'm all about. I mean, each film had it's big emotional scene. X1 had the scene with Logan nearly sacrificing himself to save Rogue at the end, and X2 had the Jean "death" scene....but X3 really had a few that hit me, including the Phoenix/Xavier scene in Jean's old house, the scene when Magneto takes off on Mystique, and also the scene with Logan/Jean at the end...even though the story progresses to quickly, it rides on emotion and really, my two favorite elements in movies are story and emotion and X3 hit me there....I can't wait to see it again.

i only felt the rushiness in the beginning, but only until phoenix rose,well...uh...made a whirlpool then magically bamfed herself to the rock, untouched by the tons of water that crushed her,dry as the sun

Is it juz me or does anybody noticed the fight in the woods between Logan and Spike? After Wolverine killed Spike, he had Spike's bones in his own abs and he removed them and the wounds healed, u could see the holes in his white singlet...
And then after which he went after and approached Jean only to be confronted by Magneto - then i saw Wolverine's singlet has no holes at the stomach area - WOW, i didn't know his singlet has HEALING factor too, otherwise, i believe that is a grave continuity ERROR! LMAO! ;D

Ok I just saw it a second time.....all I can say is that there is no question now that it's my favorite film in the series by far! The run time didn't effect me at all during the second viewing...and the film had me all emotional the whole way through....I had chills and was at the edge of my seat during the scene at jean's house and I KNEW WHAT WAS COMING ALREADY! It still had the effect on me...the same goes for the finale with Jean/Logan....and that amazing soundtrack adds to the emotion. I need to go again! ;D

The soundtrack was composed by John Powell (aka) the man who composed "The Bourne Identity" and "Bourne Supremacy" amazing soundtracks!John powell by far surpasses the cheap orchestrations which john ottman and michael kane made for x1 and x2. As for x3....John powell created such a powerful emotion wrenching Phoenix theme,it was such an awesome climax with Logan and dark Phoenix.Logans choice surprised me completely it was awesome music for that.

Howdy all. I've been reading these boards on and off for a couple months and, after seeing X3, decided to snag an account and share my thoughts.
And they are: what a disappointment. Ratner and the writers clearly bit off way more than they could chew here (though considering Ratner's track record, it's not surprising that he misses the mark). From the Phoenix saga having to share a story, to the truckload of new characters dumped on us, this film just tried to do too much in too little time. Would I have liked a three hour film? I think it would've been an improvement, but the best solution would have been to clean up the script and focus the plot more carefully.
As for the new characters, it was nice to see the likes of Angel and Beast realized on screen, but as it turned out, they were hardly worth including, as the film couldn't devote the amount of time attention warranted by new characters. Again, it all comes down to trying to do too much. Still, Foster performs adequately, and Grammer manages to go as far as the material can take him (not far... the character is almost surprisingly boring). Also, the returning cast is as strong and compelling as they were in the first two installments, though Halle Berry is still the franchise's Achilles-heel in terms of actors, and the more they give her to do, the more it shows. And in terms of my enjoyment of the film, it didn't help matters that Storm and Wolvie basically split what should really be Cyke's role (leader and love interest for Jean) between themselves. The were reasons for James Marsden's near absence, of course, and we Cyke fans should probably be used to getting metaphorically kicked in the chest by now, but somehow, these facts provided little comfort.
Because of the haste with which the whole thing seems slapped together, otherwise-dramatic moments lose their impact (even the eulogy, though Berry must accept some of the blame here), despite John Powell's score, and what was meant as an epic climactic film feels like little more than a placeholder (that's not quite the right word, but a better one escapes me) meant to tide us over until X4, if such a thing will ever come to pass. In fact, that's why the post-credits scenes are the best part of the film: they give hope that another film with come along that might bring the series' batting average back up.

Upon seeing the movie, my initial reaction was negative. I did not like it, I was disappointed, I was frustrated.
Things have settled a bit and after reading different opinions and having a lengthy discussion with a local comic book owner, I found that though I am still a little disappointed, that overall it was pretty good.
It would be terrible to be in a position like director where you have to decide what goes in, what goes out, how long, etc. It's impossible to please everyone, I know.
I think I would've been satisfied to at least have some props made to the firebird, even if it was a pretty subtle one.
The darkness of the Phoenix and the tragedy that ensues was awesome. I love that dramatic stuff. I certainly was surprised. So I've changed my mind a bit. Like the second one best, but hate the third one less.

Ok it took me a long time to think about this film before posting. In the big picture it is actually really good.No movie is perfect, and the only unforgivable about this film is the "death" of Cyclops.Of course the movie is too short fo me.However i can tell this one will be fun to watch over and over. There are lots of sub plots that are only hinted at that should keep one thinking (like does the Professor really tame Wolverine?)The action is great. And for me finally Beast!!!!Kelsey Grammer is so awesome (like all the emotion behind those eyes when he sees his skin change color, and his voice somewhat chokes "You have an amazing gift my friend")Storm I mean c'mon she was so bad a**!Callisto was way better than in the comics. All the young mutants were great esp. Kitty, too bad not enough Daniel Cudmore(that guy is huge!) I know there're things to complain about, but i'm an x-men fan for life.So I will never get enough of these characters.I know most people couldn't handle it but I would've loved a 3hour movie.I don't blame anyone for anything(except Cyke). All in all i'm happy. The only thing is that if this really is the end then they blew it,but if they had any brains they would continue this series.Anyway I'm happy to have spent these last couple of months with all here at this forum. You folks have made this x-men movie an even better experience. Thanks to all the mods, and fans to.Let's pray for an X4 people.

I have to say that when I heard that cyclops and jean was going to die I told myself that I was not going to see this movie (X3). I was going to hate this movie no matter what. I was going to be an X3 hater for life. I had my mine made up. Then my sister went to go see it (X3) and she being an X-men fan too, said she went in there with bad thoughts saying I'm going to hate this no matter what, so she sees the movie and says it's not that bad and that she liked it and convinces me to go see it atleast once and that she'll go with me, so we go and what'll you know I liked it. It really wasn't as bad as I had thought and I shock myself by how much I like it. Yeah, it has it's faults but it was still good. Then I felt so stupid for how much I hated it only to like it so much. I'm glad I gave it a chance. I will always be mad at what they did to cyclops and jean, my two favorite X-men of all time, killing them off like that, or whatever the did to cyclops, which I still don't get or understand. Other than that I have no problem with the movie. Do I think it's better than X2, no, I think there the same, neither one is better than the other. They both have there good and bad qualitys. I don't think that if Singer had done it, it would of been any better, it would of been good no matter what, but I would have liked to see where he would of took it and what he would of did with it. It could of only got better, look what he did with X2. We probably would of had the phoenix bird powers, which I wanted so bad to see on the big screen. But X3 was still good nonetheless and I'm shocked at how much I liked it after hating it so much without seeing it. The best thing in the movie(X3) is BEAST, hands down or two thumbs way, way up. You don't get no better than that with casting for a movie role. Kelsey Grammer was so perfect for the role it scares me, I can't believe how GREAT he was, it was like he really is beast. Beast was made for him and for him alone. And the special effects was better than I imagine, it looked real to me. Overall I give the movie a B- or a C+. Sorry to the X-men gods for hating it so much before giving it a chance. I really do feel bad.

Seeing the film again ...and again... made me realise that yeah it is an entertaining film and I should stop being so nit picky. I also noticed so many new things that I really liked. I looked despratly at every inch of the screen during the scene in Kitty's room to find anything that would resemble lockheed, but sadly none. (must see it again just to make sure) Anyway...My proper in depth disscussion on X3 will be in the New episode of X-cast so I should really save my Ranting til then.
but My list of best bits includes...
1. Kitty pryde vs juggernaught 2. Beast saying "ohhh you get the piont" 3. Lady in car locking car doors <----just because EVERYBODY can see their mum's doing it "don't worry kids I've locked the doors so the mutant terrorist can't get in" lol! 4. When storm says "there's somthing your not telling us" and the proffessor's face just seems very "dum de dum dum dum" and he quickly wheeels off. I burst out laughing I couldn't help it.

ARAD: You heard what was said in the classroom right? How things were explained to the students, what’s possible. When you look at the way these people materialize when the Phoenix erupts, just reverse it and who knows?
