Today, at the press junket for The Hills Have Eyes in Los Angeles, IGN FilmForce had the chance to talk to Aaron Stanford about his upcoming part in X-Men: The Last Stand where he will return to the role of John Allerdyce (aka Pyro). This time, Pyro joins the "dark side" to serve as one of Magneto's mutants.
When asked about his role, he had this to say:
"...they do actually follow through with the Pyro and Iceman story and really take it to a nice conclusion."
"He's off the fence and he's with the brotherhood, dedicated and committed. Because of that, he's off the leash and he's just allowed to really let his powers rip and not hold back at all. It's gonna be good."
"I have just a darker costume, but what they do have, they brought in the ignite, which is slightly different… In the comic book, he has these big igniters that are hooked up to long tubes… It's not like that, it's great. It's very utilitarian, it's…strapped to his wrist and he can just press a button and a small little pilot light comes on. That's all he needs is a little, tiny pilot light and he can turn it into whatever he wants. So that was a cool addition this time."
"In X2, he's very sort of ambivalent about where his allegiances lie - he's not sure where he's gonna go. He's obviously part of the school for gifted children. But he's also very attracted to this other side, this brotherhood he's been hearing about, Magneto's brotherhood. And he's got friends with Professor X, but on the other hand, he's really called by Magneto and he tells him that he's a God amongst insects. That's a pretty attractive idea [or] concept. In X3, he's totally surrendered to that. He's off the fence and he's with the brotherhood, dedicated and committed. Because of that, he's off the leash and he's just allowed to really let his powers rip and not hold back at all. It's gonna be good."
I don't know about the rest of you, but I am extremely excited to see Pyro's transition to the "dark side," if you will.
